Exciton condensation in quantum wells. Exciton hydrodynamics. The effect of localized states
نویسنده
چکیده
The hydrodynamic equations for indirect excitons in the double quantumwells are studied taking into account 1) a possibility of an exciton condensed phase formation, 2) the presence of pumping, 3) finite value of the exciton lifetime, 4) exciton scattering by defects. The threshold pumping emergence of the periodical exciton density distribution is found. The role of localized and free exciton states is analyzed in the formation of emission spectra.

Thermal variation of PL peak energy of undoped nitride semiconductor quantum well shows a successive red-blue-red shifted emission (S-shaped behavior). This behavior has been attributed to the localization of excitons at the energy minima induced by the potential fluctuations in the quantum well structure and/or interface roughness. The S-shaped behavior of PL peak position, the thermal variati...

A phenomenological theory of exciton condensation in conditions of inhomogeneous excitation is proposed. The theory is applied to the study of the development of an exciton luminescence ring and the ring fragmentation at macroscopical distances from the central excitation spot in coupled quantum wells. The transition between the fragmented and the continuous ring is considered. With assumption ...

Bound electron–hole pairs—excitons—are light Bose particles with a mass comparable to or smaller than that of the free electron. Since the quantum degeneracy temperature scales inversely with the mass, it is anticipated that Bose–Einstein condensation of an exciton gas can be achieved at temperatures of about 1 K, orders of magnitude larger than the micro-Kelvin temperatures employed in atomic ...

We demonstrate the possibility of room-temperature, thermal equilibrium Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of exciton-polaritons in a multiple quantum well (QW) system composed of InGaAs quantum wells surrounded by InP barriers, allowing for the emission of light near telecommunication wavelengths. The QWs are embedded in a cavity consisting of double slanted pore (SP2) photonic crystals composed...
